A lamp with sculptural attitude. This piece stacks simple geometric forms—cylinder, cone, rectangle—at unexpected, playful angles, creating a sense of movement within stillness. Each shape is hand turned from solid ash and then burnt using the Yakisugi technique, transforming the wood into a deep matte black while revealing its grain like smoke beneath the surface. Highlighting the natural imperfections of the storm felled wood, pith and all.
Though the forms are minimal, the composition feels alive—almost architectural, like a model of an imagined monument. Every angle, every proportion is considered. And yet, there’s something spontaneous in the way it leans, balances, and holds light.
This is lighting as object. Functional, yes. But also deeply expressive.
