A study in transformation, Kindling begins as a thick, uneven platform of black walnut—solid, grounded, and heavy with presence. Two smaller charred pieces intersect and lock together above, recalling the loose geometry of stacked kindling before a fire.
A steel floral frog is embedded in the base, allowing stems to rise through the openings between the wood. The surface is extensively burned, revealing just traces of the walnut beneath—what once was material now suggesting fuel, warmth, renewal.
Part vase, part meditation on impermanence, Kindling holds both destruction and creation in balance.
